Book talk

Six gathered
the sky was blue
the clouds were perfect
both shape and size
where white was white.

A breeze blew
flowers in pots
danced so gracefully
forwards and back.
then still as resting.

The ladies
in summer clothes
relaxed enjoying their
place amongst friends
sitting outside in the garden.

The tea was made
Earl grey, raspberry or regular
mugs were filled
cakes were handed
all consumed amongst conversation.

Then they talked
dissecting the book of choice
set in Missippi
then on to New York
America so far from these English ladies lives.

They agreed the book was good
in so many ways
and lacking in so many others.
The copies were laid aside
more tea not cake
just sit.

Time to finish.
Time to go
until next time
with a very different book.

Thanks Welshcakes.
It was a glorious afternoon which I felt deserved a poem!
