 Log store

Stopping by the log store
on a summer afternoon
quietly watching
sun and shade
playing between
beech, hawthorn, sycamore
stacked one on another
drying for the winter.

Looking at the log store
this summer afternoon
honeysuckle winds
 among uneven shapes
rings of the ages
ash, oak, chestnut
 hope for dark hours
drying for the winter.

Gazing at the log store
all summer afternoon
cobwebs  entangled
brown butterflies waltz
blackberrys on brambles
willow, alder, birch
thinking of the cold times
drying for the winter.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Lovely poem, very atmospheric .. we're just coming out of winter in my side of the world, and heading into a very welcome spring.

Today the weather made me feel as if it won't be so log before we burn some logs. Thanks all for your comments. I am interested to know your thoughts as I am a "poetry virgin"!

I love this one! I really like the way it flows and the way you tied each verse together with the different kinds of wood all 'drying for the winter'...
