Walking on the machair

Walking on the machair
An October afternoon
Rain still in the air
Blowing from the west

Black face sheep are everywhere
They baa and bleat
So sweet the sound
Music on the air

I reach the edge
The sea in front
Blue some grey and even green
Between; the pure white strand

Some gannets dive
Oystercatchers
Cluster by the tide
Illustrate their nervous disposition

Rabbits here abound
Their numbers are too many
Blackface sheep are everywhere
Walking on the machair

...this poem is a favorite too. You really capture the bird movements well.
