found in the seaweed

beach combing
between sea and cliff
searching so carefully
looking for wealth
parcelled by seaweed

sea glass worn by the waves
ground by the sand
jewels from the ocean
left here by the sea
hidden in seaweed

driftwood brought by the waves
smoothed by the sand
floats on the ocean
warm to the touch
wrapped in seaweed

sea beans from the islands
far far away
carried on The Gulf Stream
traverse the Atlantic
to Sandymouth beach

fish crates broken useless
from harbours so far and so near
Spain, Nova Scotia
Newlyn and Meva
ports that still fish

flotsam jetsam
discarded by one
to another a treasure
found in the seaweed
carried home from the beach

That's lovely and I really can picture the scene.

I absolutely LOVE sea glass and anything that has been transformed by the movement of the waves. Gorgeous poem!! I have seen a lot of pretty earring creations made with sea glass. I am partial to the ocean anyway, my birthday is in July and have lived near the beach for many years.

Ah beach-combing, I can just picture the scene and feel the breeze.

CherryPie: I am so lucky to live in Cornwall with so many beaches that need combing!

I love watching Escape to the Country from Britain twice weekly here and soaking up your countryside. It looks to be so picturesque. Your poetry says this too.

Carole Meisenhelter: Welcome. Cornwall is a lovely place to live and our coast is so beautiful. Glad you like my poetry.

Sea-scented, your latest poem, and a new wave of flotsam and jetsam surely, after the recent stormy weather. I fly to England tomorrow so hope the weather settles down a bit! I won't make it to Cornwall this time around as this is mainly a family trip to Oxford, Belfast and er... Paris.

I've just found your other Blog Cornelly Culture(?) Remember to change the Comment form to Full Page for ease of use by Commenters.

I love beachcombing too... I like sea ceramics as well as sea glass, small bits of patterned pottery worn smooth by the sea...

Crafty Green Poet: Welcome here. Blue and white pottery found on Scottish beaches is lovely with all the history within less common on Cornish ones.
