blackbirds

he stands
proudly
on winter hedge
black feathers
so perfect
beak with monocle
 bright yellow
faces one way
then turns to another
this blackbird

she lands
demurely
on same winter hedge
dark brown
mottles obscure
dull coloured beak
stands
as a statue
looking about
this blackbird

in spring
they will build a nest
in this hedge

Spring..... so far away.... hope you are having a great day. Lovely poem, thank you!

Today I will drive... although the road crews have not gotten to all the roads in Anchorage and they are still quite a mess I will venture out to work today!

Ina in Alaska:It is cold, windy and wet but I am snuggled up inside with the wood stove lit so my day is good. Glad you liked the poem.

They will have two broods in your hedge because it is safe and when the young fledge, they too will find a space in the hedge. I love blackbirds. They seem such organised birds.

The early days of courting. Keeping each other warm in winter...

Cuby said...

CheriePie: I saw them at separate times so there was no snuggling up to keep warm!
