Above Bassett's cove.
high above Bassett's cove
standing by the edge
peering out across the sea
the irregular sized waves
each upon another
splash on unprotected collision
surf breaks on rolling wave
sky meets sea
in hazy indistinct caress
where sea birds fly high
riding pathways in the air
optically invisible
magically detectable
navigators of the currents
far to the West
Godrevy lighthouse
appears through fine mist
a white proud solitary pharos
standing on this island
one century and more
warning ships that pass
high above Bassett's cove
wind blowing through my hair
cold damp chilling to the bone
raw elemental
heightening awareness
rocks, sea, wind, mist
cloaked in Cornish air

I can feel the wind whipping my hair all about. I am away from the ocean right now and your verse makes me miss it.
KaHollly: It was just so windy when I got the idea for this poem that I tried to capture it in words. Thanks for your comments.
Another beautiful painting with words.
Mitch Block:Thank you so much.
Sounds like a place I'd love to visit... I love lighthouses and the seashore.... Think I could stay there for a very long time!!!!!! Thanks for sharing....

Yet another winner, Poet. I can feel the wind and cold but I see the rocks and the lighthouse standing their ground. Wonderful contrasts.
You sure make me miss the ocean! I can almost smell the salt.

Maria: It took me a long time to get to that so you have made all the thinking worthwhile.Thanks.
Some great phrases here...like the sea meeting the horizon and particlarly the birds being navigators of the current... a very evocative poem which I enjoyed and will doubtless return to.

Excellent. I miss the ocean, but at least I have mountains to make up for it.
Al: Thanks. I think I have to have either sea or mountains and you sound as if you feel the same.
Very evocative.
