     Breath of fresh air.

I want a walk
to breathe in fresh air
days after day
grey skies dominate
watching from inside
rain follows storm.

Crossing the field
soaking my boots
to stand by the confluence
in ankle deep oak leaves
soggy brown dead forms
of a season that's passed.

The rivers run caramel
smooth brown so full
creating energy
rolling then splashing
flowing further, journeying
over then over, over and over.

Bushes hang lowly
dripping pathetically
raindrops falling again
bedraggled wet.
I scurry home
to a dry cosy house.

I went out for a breath of fresh air.

You make even this sound beautiful. I wouldn't mind being there -- albeit briefly.

Mitch Block:The places I get my ideas are lovely and in Cornwall but the weather is always unpredictable!

The best thing about a walk in the rain is getting home and curling up in the warm with a nice cup of tea :-)

very atmospheric poem, very Scottish almost in its mood and weather! (Though at the moment here its blue skies and high winds)

Our rivers are running caramel as well just now, with a sort of frothy cappuccino effect as they fire over the rocks. Its all very impressive but by damn its cold! So far the winds are avoiding the islands but I sense they are approaching. Its a lovely time of year if you are well wrapped up.

Crafty Green Poet: Thank you for comments. It is good to know that what I am trying to say is working.

Doris: It has rained and rained and blown and blown through the night and has just stopped raining about 1/2 hour ago but it is still blowing hard glad I am not at sea.

Great site. If you liked the current post on my site, see the one later this afternoon, my time, which talks about the Redpoll exclusively. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
