One
sapphire cloud.
(read aloud as
performance poem!)
Sleep
as if dead
all
winter ahead
under
warm cosy spread
in
black peaty bed
warm
as new bread
by
old wooden shed
no
more to be said.
March,
the beginning
though
the soil peeping
first
shoots of Spring
leaves
are just sprouting
waxy
with greening
glossy
and shining
just
happy growing.
This
is the clue
flowers
now blue
as
the breeze blew
now
here's the breakthrough
blooms
just continue
covered
in dew
full
flowers now due.
Hyacinths
proud
singing
out loud
blue
in a crowd
one
sapphire cloud!

Beautiful! I love the sapphire cloud! Also. I wish I could sleep like that. Stupid insomnia.
How did you like The Moon and Sixpence? I've been a huge fan of Maugham for 20 years now.
Ola: Spring is such a happy season.
Lisa @ Two Bears farm : I really enjoyed The moon and sixpence my first MAUGHAM so will seek out others. Glad you liked Sapphire cloud.
Snow here yesterday and today it is all gone, allowing the sun to shine on a day they predicted only rain.
I had given up on snow and was looking for the arrival of spring here also -- glad you got it!
Thanks for dropping by. . .

eileeninmd: Thanks for this, I am very pleased you like it.
A great spring poem. Where I live you'd have to add the heavy spring snows (although not yet this year)!

Great poem... I did read it aloud. I still love poems which rhyme!!!!! So much fun to read aloud.
Yes---spring is here....

There has been a shift in the weather- the air is less harsh. This is very welcome. So very tired of Winter 2012.
Lovely spring poem, I particularly like the hyacinths singing!
Betsy from Tennessee: Great to know that you enjoyed this poem Thanks.
Ina in Alaska: So pleased to bring you Spring where your winter has not quite finished yet.
Crafty Green Poet: I feel sure flowers sing in the Spring when they bring so much joy, how could they stay silent?!
I have got a lovely image of that Sapphire cloud in my head :-)
CherryPie: The sun is shining on the sapphire cloud today and it is so much more beautiful than before. Just keep imagining it!
I, too, like this one. Your use of alliteration is effective as is your use of colour.
Yvonne: Thanks for the positive comment.
Beautiful! I can feel the Spring in your poems!

Simone de Klerk: It is cold today and very unspring like. Your sister has probably told you lots about Cornwall but maybe my poems can tell it in a different way. Welcome here.
