where the young people meet

by the unused black pump
on the over grown grass
dandelions thrive
seeds blow in the air
where the young people meet

under stone Celtic cross
by moss covered wall
Scarlet pimpernels hide
in long rampant grass
where the young people meet

teens on old wooden seat
others wander around
white clover spot
deep trefoil patch
where the young people meet

voices like music
laughter and chatter
impregnate the air
joyful some saddened
where the young people meet

youth of the village
future elders in time
remember this place
place for discussion
where the young people meet

Oh I like this - you make it sound like a magical place.

Maybe the young people feel it magic.
Glad you liked this one.

It seems like the young people always find a place they like to hang out. Here it is at the shopping mall. I enjoyed your poem, Cuby!

somehow I think that only the young people can be absolutely happy, later on too many experiences always reflect on the state of soul...

Ola: I think that before teenage years get full of difficult emotional
problems might be the best years.

A place frozen in time and in their memories. Lovely.

What a wonderful picture you paint with your poem. The symbolism of youth among old things, like the cross and the wooden chair, is very powerful.

Cuby said...

Nancy: I hope each generation will carry the memories. Thanks.

That's lovely and it is very visual! Unfortunately, 'where the young people meet' here their voices don't often sound 'like music'...their vocabulary is usually very unpleasant and limited!

ShySongbird: Good that you could see this place. I don't always hear everything that is said but I do hear a lot of laughter.

We old folks have our meeting grounds too.....

Welshcakes: Thanks.

Maria: The old guys and the young ones use the same bench at different times to meet so maybe that is material for another time.
