One
perfect evening
I
remember
one
perfect evening
last
summer
afloat
on the river
our
boat
hull
shining blue
tied
to her mooring
drifting
with flow
Perceuil river
sheltered peaceful
burgee fluttering
shrouds rattling music
Perceuil river
sheltered peaceful
burgee fluttering
shrouds rattling music
tidal
with river
contra
directions
high,
low tides
water is mistress
pair of swans
knocking
using
their beaks
polite
but insistent
grunting
together
warm
air wafting
gentle
caressing
surface rippling
concentric
circles
egrets
flapping
into
tree tops
settling
resting
tranquil
repose
listening
now
the
end of the day
nothing
is moving
swathed
by the silence
light
merging
with
night
all
is subdued
world
sleeps 'til the morn

Sounds like heaven.
A lovely atmospheric evening captured well. The fact that the swans grunted adds a touch of reality and contrasts well with the silence and the ripples.
Mitchell is moving: Certainly was!
Yvonne: So pleased you could get the feeling of this time.
Gorgeous poem. I don't think there's anything more peaceful than being by or on the water at sundown.. The day is winding down --and there's a stillness and peace in the air. AWESOME.

Betsy
