I came to a community of them under a bridge a few days ago and really enjoyed their flight.

How timely. I sat by the river yesterday right next to a bridge and watched them do just that!

Out on the prairie: They are one of the delights of the summer.

Mitchell is moving: This seemed to be a way of describing their flight pattern. It sounds as if it worked for you!

I love watching the birds flying and diving, it's something we see a lot of here. Excellent verbal representation!

Al: Thank you.

Cuby, what a lovely poem. I can see the swallows flying all around me. Have a wonderful day.

Lovely -- we have many that fly in the evening -- gathering bugs.

Hope you get your sunshine soon. :)

lovely metaphor here; reminiscent of Hughes' Work and Play.

Cuby said...

Crafty Green Poet: Oh but how do they cope with this wet, wet weather?

Cuby said...

eileeninmd: Thanks for your thoughts.

Cuby said...

Nancy Claeys: They are so beautiful in the sky so to share my words and have them enjoyed is pleasurable. Thanks.

Yvonne: This metaphor seemed the best description I could find. Off to seek 'Work and play' don't know it. Thanks for your comments.

Beautifully descriptive! There is nothing nicer than sitting in the garden on a warm, sunny day watching them do just that. That was when we used to have warm, sunny days of course :-(

Wonderful visuals! I wonder if their resultant 'cloth' pattern could be recorded? Imagine!
Thanks for this!

Cuby said...

Lisa@ Two Bears Farm: Thank you and am glad you found this poem beautiful.

Cuby said...

Jim : I imagine the cloth to be beautiful colours and as light as chiffon.

Cuby said...

ShySongbird: It is a pleasure for everyone, thanks for your comments.
