Now back from The Outer Hebrides my inspiration and ideas are around me in Cornwall and occasionally further afield in the south west of England.
Lady Down
Sitting on the turf
sheltering
by enormous gorse bush
on Lady Down
Hawthorn Trees
in winter attire
bones exposed
skeleton bent
leaves long blown
over the horizon
this exposed place
on Bodmin moor
clouds quickly
across the sky
chasing racing
chartless journey
shaft of sun
alights on distant fields
disc of gold
transient light
square church tower
surrounded by trees
safe in the valley
from violence untamed
Lady Down
has faced the elements
day after century
from
the beginning of time

I give you spring and you give me elemental autumn. Beautiful.
Thanks for this. It was so lovely but with an autumnal feel to the air. :)
That's lovely, Cuby.
Welshcakes: Thanks. Claire :)
a lovely poem. You capture the scene very well, in particular I like your description of the hawthorn trees and the clouds.
Yvonne: Thanks for your comments so pleased you liked this one.
